The Class of 2003
Presents
5-in-05
"Trixie, did you hear?" Honey's hazel eyes were wide open in surprise as she looked over at her best friend sitting next to her.
"Hear what? Mart asked from across the room, his leg slung over the chair. Honey and Trixie glared at Mart for interupting their conversation.
"Mart, how many times do I have to remind you that you need to sit up straight. Moms would have a fit if she saw you now!" Mart glared at Brian as he quietly obeyed. Laughter soon spread throughout the room at the thought that Mart would actually obey for once! He then proceeded to pull out the chess set and began setting it up for him and Brian to play.
"Which one do you think it was?" Trixie asked.
"Hmm," Honey replied, her eyes staring dreamily at Brian as he decided his first move.
"The one who made Mart behave?"
Honey quickly reverted back to reality, "Um, Grey I guess."
"That's what I figure. She keeps doing strange things to us!"
"Yeah, I know." The two girls began to ignore the boys on the other end of the room.
"I wonder what MaryC will do to us this year?" Trixie mused.
"I don't know! At least she's a Brian fan!" Honey said with a smile.
"And Amy's a Jim fan!"
"Don't forget Janice! But seriously, did you hear what the Sleepyside Class of 2003 is planning to do?"
"Hmm? No. What?" Trixie leaned in excitedly.
"They're going to write five stories for us this year!"
"WHAT!?!?" Trixie's excitement was barely contained as she shouted out. The boys looked up from their game of chess at the two girls. A bit embarrassed, Trixie continued quietly, "They're gonna do what?"
Honey continued, "Excited by the Burnout Challenge for the older authors, they've decided to band together and have their own challenge!"
"Oh that's cool! More fanfiction. I was getting a bit bored hanging around here."
"Yep," Honey nodded her head, "And it gets weirder. They're volunteering to GRADE themselves!"
"What?! Like homework. They're nuts!"
"I know! But they've agreed that if they write 5 stories they get an A+, 4 stories gets a B, 3 stories gets a C, 2 stories get a D, and 1 or 0 stories gets an F!"
"Wow, well that should be a pretty easy test, at least to pass!"
"I know, to pass they need three stories! But remember, they have to be complete stories!"
"Oh that's wonderful! I always like to know what's going to happen!"
"Me too. And it gets even better, the stories that they've already posted that they haven't completed count as well as long as the parts posted in 2005 have more than a thousand words!"
"Oh!" Trixie exclaimed, "I wonder if that means....."
"Yep! We'll finally get to learn about what happens when," Honey began
"Kids, time for dinner!" Mrs. Belden shouted into the living room.
"Well, I guess we'll have to finish this conversation later!" Honey said with a conspiring grin. The two girls got up and followed their brothers into the kitchen.
